Rehab 76-78
This 90cm x 107cm (35 x 42) collage revolves around David Bowie's stay in West Berlin from 1976 to 1978. West Berlin possessed an electrifying atmosphere, drawing young men from across West Germany due to an exemption from mandatory military service. This vibrant environment fostered a culture of free-thinking, progressive individuals who embraced the arts, nightlife, and challenged the conservative constraints of post-World War II society. David Bowie sought refuge in Berlin to overcome his cocaine addiction, but instead found a bustling city that surpassed his expectations. This transformative experience allowed him to reinvent himself after his Ziggy Stardust era and led to the creation of some of his finest work.
